Meta Engineering collaborates in Lima’s Metro 2 Line construction
25th January 2021
Meta Engineering is collaborating in the Lima Metro Line 2 construction project through the Assistance for the Integration of Railway and Non-Railway Systems.
In the first stage of operation, the underground tunnel will connect the Mercado Santa Anita, Hermilio Valdizán, Colectora Industrial, Óvalo Santa Anita and Evitamiento stations. The aim is to have completed the first round of Line 2’s trial run period by July 2021.
It is expected that the infrastructure will have an average of more than 300,000 users per day between the eastern and central areas of Lima, a journey that can be made in 15 minutes.
As part of the project, the installation of the catenary that will feed the metro line has been completed. The line will be fed by four electrical substations along its route and tests are currently being carried out on the locomotives, as well as on the signalling, control, communication and safety systems.
Lima’s new Metro Line 2 is a much-awaited infrastructure in the Peruvian capital, and will make a significant contribution to decongesting road traffic and improving urban mobility in the city.
